Meet the Founders
Delkon Stairs and Carpentry was founded in 2018 when two local Canberra mates, Will Elkins and Peter Demamiel, decided to combine their skills and businesses to build something bigger together. Both had been running their own successful carpentry contracting operations, working across the ACT on residential and commercial projects. What began as a collaboration between two tradesmen quickly evolved into a business with a clear vision.
In the early days, Delkon focused on contract carpentry work, primarily servicing builders across the region. As they built strong relationships within the industry, one recurring issue kept surfacing—there was a serious lack of local options for high-quality, custom staircases. After a few Friday knock-off chats and a healthy dose of ambition, Will and Pete decided to “give that a crack.
With humble beginnings in a small rented workshop, a basic CNC machine, and a whole lot of hard work, the Delkon staircase division was born. Long days turned into longer nights—filled with research, planning, and hands-on learning. But it paid off.
Today, Delkon operates from a large, modern facility in Beard, equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and supported by a team of over 30 skilled professionals. We’re proud to be recognized as the go-to staircase manufacturing and installation company in the ACT and surrounding regions.
Our Stair Division, led by Will, handles everything from design and manufacturing to installation of all types of staircases, balustrades, and handrails. Meanwhile, Pete heads up our Carpentry Division, managing a 20-strong team of experienced carpenters and apprentices, continuing to deliver quality construction work across the ACT.
At Delkon, we’ve grown steadily through hard work, strong relationships, and a team-first mindset. We’re committed to keeping our people and our clients happy—because when our team is thriving, our work reflects it.
Be proud of every job. – Peter Demamiel
That mindset drives everything we do—from a custom staircase in a high-end townhouse to the final fix on a large-scale carpentry project. We value craftsmanship, teamwork, and safety above all.
We also believe a strong culture builds a strong business. That’s why we invest in our people through regular team events, a safe and supportive work environment, and opportunities to grow.
Thanks for taking the time to learn about Delkon. We’re proud of where we’ve come from—and even more excited about where we’re going.
